Striped Bass and Topwater Action

Greetings, anglers! Fall fishing on Lake Texoma is showing great promise, especially in the early mornings with striped bass actively feeding. Experience good topwater action when blind casting shallow, and as the day progresses, switch to swimbaits beneath the surface to follow the stripers’ movement. The water is slightly stained, at around 65 degrees, ideal for encouraging active feeding. While surface feedings are less common due to the warm temperatures, striped bass fishing remains strong, especially using live shad in 40-60 feet of water, targeting around 30 feet depth.

Catfish, Crappie, and Bass

Catfishing continues to be rewarding, with chunked gizzard shad being particularly effective. Drifting in depths of 50-60 feet along the bottom is recommended for the best results. Crappie enthusiasts should focus on boat docks and brush piles in 8-12 feet of water, using jigs and live minnows. For largemouth and smallmouth bass, the bluffs are hotspots, with live shad being the bait of choice. These fish are found shallow along the banks, and smaller fish are biting on swimbaits in rocky coves.

In summary, Lake Texoma is vibrant with a variety of fish species, offering plentiful opportunities for anglers. Whether targeting stripers, catfish, crappie, or bass, the lake is teeming with chances for a successful catch. As always, practice safe fishing and respect the lake’s natural beauty and fellow anglers. Happy fishing!
